Abbotswood in Rustington, West Sussex is a modern complex of retirement apartments. Amongst the management and the residents there are a number of talented and enthusiastic people with a surprisingly diverse mix of artistic interests.  Many of those who have entered their retirement years have either discovered talents which they never realised that they had or else have at last found time to resurrect skills which have been long buried because of their busy business years. Here, the level of individual skills is less important than the fact that an interesting, and hopefully a fulfilling, new pastime has been discovered - or rediscovered - to help fill their time, particularly for those whose mobility now restricts their activities.  So, the work that is displayed here should not be considered to be ‘good’ or ‘bad’, or ‘right’ or wrong’, that just doesn’t matter because what is shown here is the product of a pleasurable pastime and while a particular style may appeal to some, others may not like it. Just consider the diverse views that are held on the work of Picasso and of many other notable expressionists for example ! ​

This website provides not only a platform for work to be displayed but it will also carry an occasional journal of the arty type activities amongst this small community.  Each one of our active art or craft enthusiasts, no matter what type of thing it is that they do or what their interest or level of skill is, will have the opportunity to have their work included on their own pages here.
