Having not attempted to draw or paint anything since junior school years in the 1940s Ken, who signs his artwork as DjK, was inspired to have a go after seeing what was being produced by a couple of friends. Having little natural free-flowing drawing talent, the help and encouragement they gave gradually built up his confidence and enthusiasm to the point that what started as a tentative new hobby has now become almost an obsessive daily pastime which has produced his personal style which is keeping the brain challenged in these later retirement and Covid lock-down years ! So, a few weeks after becoming hooked on this new interest, he signed up for what has proved to be a super on-line course with the Virtual Instructor and also became a strong follower of several other online instructional sites each of which have proved to be enormously helpful. His efforts have become heavily influenced by what are known as Photo-Realism or Pseudo-Realism styles but he also dabbles in a style known as Line and Wash and also in acrylics. Examples of his work in each of these are included here. As with the work of most artists who work in modern Realism styles, some of Dj's work is often thought to be a photograph. In some instances, using a mix of graphite, pastel and charcoal a work may have been created from very close reference to a photograph or a drawing (either his own or a free to use one) and then a digital art process used before printing out from a computer for completion. Hope you like what you see in this collection to which new stuff will be added from time to time. None of it is claimed to be exceptional - it's just stuff that has kept Dj happily occupied for an hour or two every now and again !! His pages are separated into three sections - one for portraits, one for animals & birds and one for Line & Wash, Acrylic and miscellaneous bits. * * * * * * |
